Hadith related to grave (Qabar)

Sahi Bokhari (sahih bukhari)

Ref:  http://www.usc.edu/org/cmje/religious-texts/hadith/bukhari/023-sbt.php

Volume 2, Book 23, Number 422:

Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, “When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their foot steps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask him: What did you use to say about this man, Muhammad ? He will say: I testify that he is Allah’s slave and His Apostle. Then it will be said to him, ‘Look at your place in the Hell-Fire. Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.’ ” The Prophet added, “The dead person will see both his places. But a non-believer or a hypocrite will say to the angels, ‘I do not know, but I used to say what the people used to say! It will be said to him, ‘Neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by reciting the Quran).’ Then he will be hit with an iron hammer between his two ears, and he will cry and that cry will be heard by whatever approaches him except human beings and jinns.”

Volume 2, Book 23, Number 443:

Narrated Ibn Abbas:

The Prophet once passed by two graves, and those two persons (in the graves) were being tortured. He said, “They are being tortured not for a great thing (to avoid). One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other was going about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends). He then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree split it into two pieces and fixed one on each grave. The people said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Why have you done so?” He replied, “I hope that their punishment may be lessened till they (the leaf) become dry.”

Volume 2, Book 23, Number 456:

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

Allah’s Apostle said, “When (Allah’s) slave is put in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their footsteps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask, ‘What did you use to say about this man (i.e. Muhammad)?’ The faithful Believer will say, ‘I testify that he is Allah’s slave and His Apostle.’ Then they will say to him, ‘Look at your place in the Hell Fire; Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.’ So he will see both his places.” (Qatada said, “We were informed that his grave would be made spacious.” Then Qatada went back to the narration of Anas who said;) Whereas a hypocrite or a non-believer will be asked, “What did you use to say about this man.” He will reply, “I do not know; but I used to say what the people used to say.” So they will say to him, “Neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by reciting the Quran).” Then he will be hit with iron hammers once, that he will send such a cry as everything near to him will hear, except Jinns and human beings. (See Hadith No. 422).

Sahih International Translation Quran 19:16-34 :

And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.

And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.

She said, “Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah .”

He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy.”

She said, “How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?”

He said, “Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.’ ”

So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, “Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten.”

But he called her from below her, “Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.

And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.

So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, ‘Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.’ ”

Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.

O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste.”

So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?”

[Jesus] said, “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive

And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.

And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.”

That is Jesus, the son of Mary – the word of truth about which they are in dispute.

Exodus: Gods and Kings – Movie Reviews

Exodus: Gods and Kings – Movie Reviews as a Muslim

Exodus, meaning “going out” is second book of Torah (Torait), The movie goes around how Pharaoh (Firoon) was treating israelites (Bane-Israil) as slaves and abusing them. Moses who was grown up as a prince was part of Pharaoh family. During his discovery of him being adapted son and that he is originally an israelites, he accidentally killed Pharaoh men and was asked to leave Egypt. The movie story goes on how Moses discover God commands and then return to Egypt. There are stories of plagues including river of blood, frogs, flies, diseased livestock and death of first born and then there is famous story of israelites leaving Egypt and how Pharaoh and his army follow them to the red sea.

I have not read the “Exodus” book however, I have read a lot about Moses from Quran and for some reason, I thought that something was missing from this movie. Don’t take me wrong, this is a great movie to watch, special effects are very well done and story runs very well but I think direction was not very well done for some parts. Pharaoh does not seems as mean or aggressive king as we have read in the books. Moses was speaking fine and was not in need of help of Aaron (Haroon) for his message. Pharaoh survived crossing the red sea. Really???

There is no reference of Moses using his cane as miracle and magician of Egypt using their tricks. It make senseiIf Exodus does not have any reference of these miracles but if it does, them missing it from the movie is a major disappointment.

I will suggest to read Quran Chapter 7 (Surat Al-‘A`rāf ) : Ayaat from 130-138 for more information on topics that are covered in “Exodus: Gods and Kings”
